Hi, I have only just started this course and I haven't written assignments in such a long time.. I'm having trouble with the word count. I've written 600+ words for a 200 word question and I don't know how I'm going to shorten it! I should have check first before letting my fingers type away! Does it really matter how much you write?

I don't think it matters really on how many words just as long as you have covered all the points for your question ......Good Luck

Thank you for your replies. I've put a few examples in to prove that I know what the answer is to the questions so I'm hoping that will be enough to get me passed even if it is a bit long winded!

Hi, I've just summited unit 3 and all I use the word count for is too ensure I type at least that many words but on average I am 200/300 over the minimum and its not been picked up. so you should be fine. A friend is doing the paper course and she doesn't get a word count. Hope you are enjoying it!

Glad to read this! I've just finished AC 1.2 of the TA course (L3) and also went way over (660 instead of 200) and have been trying all weekend to get it down. I've given up as the points are all included in my writing and I don't want to remove anything!

I was told that the word count is only a guide and it is ok to go over but not under. I am always way way over and it has never been a problem so far, I get really detailed feedback from my tutor on how well she thinks my response is and that she likes what I have included as it shows clear understanding so I wouldn't worry if you go over.
