Teaching Assisntant: Supporting teaching and learning in schools Level 3

I have signed on to the Teaching assistant: supporting teaching and learning in schools certificate QCF level 3. My start date is 22/12/14 and online it says my recourses have been sent (well over a week ago) but I haven't received them yet. When can I expect them? I would also like to know. Is there new recourse for EVERY assignment or does the book that is being sent to me have everything in it for me as I would like to crack on and I would hate to have to wait after each assignment for each resource.

Thank you in advance for your support x

Hi the text book you receive apparently has everything in it in that you need. You have to wait for your assignment to be marked before you can access the next set of assignment questions. My tutor sent mine back in a couple of days so i didn't have to wait to long. Its a lot of written work!!! good luck

Hi Sarah,

There is no maximum/minimum word count, however around 300 words per individual question would be a good guideline.

Please contact us should you require any further assistance.

Hi Thompson1471

I've just enrolled on this course and my start date is 8th January. I have received my course materials and like yourself eager to crack on with it. Are you at all confused about the portfolio work that is in the text book??

Also would you like to keep in touch throughout this course, moral support and all that? :)

Hi Becky, I though the placement wouldn't be needed till assignment 5 or so but looking through the textbook there's portfolio work, also questions I think you can only really answer to full potential if was already on the placement. I'm going to start my placement asap, even though I can only really do a few hours every Monday. Hope that doesn't hinder my course in anyway. I would recommend finding a placement as soon as you can.

Hi Vicky, I have all my materials now and have cracked on with it. Some bits are a little confusing but seem to get the hang of it. You don't need to do the portfolio until assignment 5 and then it asks you to complete it for one of your questions.
How are you getting on?

The portfolio activities will start from lesson 5
onwards, but we recommend that students should try to have access to their placement setting
for the duration of the course.

I wish I had been ́recommended ́ that before I started the course! I can't see that recommendation anywhere? All it says in the course description is that 50 hours placement will be needed in order to complete the course. The course is a supposedly 12 months so a placement covering that stretch is quite a long time for a school to agree to isn't it?

I have also just signed up for this course and not sure where to start I have received the text book and papers through the post, but to be honest its all a little confusing if I go on the test which is online is that all I answer, and making notes throughout the reading material, its quite confusing. Any ideas anyone?? Where best to start! thanks in advanced

Yes the test papers are online, you just go through them and submit each one. There's also some portfolio work in the textbook which I'm confused about but I'm sure that they are only submitted at the end of the course. I think it's mostly reading the literature, understanding it, adding to it and writing it in your own words......well I hope so anyway. Iv only done question 1 on the first assignment and I'm already questioning my ability!!! Quite daunting at first, I'm hoping my placement gives me more of an understanding.

Thanks very much for the info Vicky =) I think I'll just get Christmas out of the way and get right on looking for a placement then. I haven't even received my text book yet, so I'll see how daunted I am when it arrives!

Hi I recently started on this course and half way through my first assignment. I've found it all overwhelming to be honest to the point I nearly decided I had chosen the wrong course. I had read that I needed a placement for 50 hours but didn't realise it needed to be set up for the start of the course. I am currently trying desperately to find a placement.
Has everybody else got their placements sorted and how are finding the portfolio tasks. They seem quite daunting to me.
Also in the textbook there are ́knowledge into action ́ ́reflect ́ and ́functional skills ́ tasks, are you meant to evidence these as well and if so do I send in with each assignment or with my portfolio?

Sorry for the essay, it's been ten years since I was at uni and its like starting all over again

My ILP changed as well for some reason, I thought I had a year to do the course, according to my ILP it started in December and the last assignment has to be submitted by 12th October....that's 10 months. Luckily I'm on target so I suppose the quicker it has to be done the better.

I signed up to this last week and have received my course materials as I'm doing the paper based learning, I am feeling rather overwhelmed and confused too. The first assignment is pretty big and I need to find a placement too.

I enrolled last month. Assumed first assignment was due 19/2/2015 however have had an email saying my 1st assignment is due in 5 days, majorly confused. There is no clarification anywhere and I emailed my tutor over a week ago to discuss the fact I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and have heard nothing. I've no idea if I'm meant to have arranged placement or when my assignment is due. Getting majorly stressed!
