Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning Level 3 - Getting myself confused!

I have worked my way through the first assignment, answering the questions asked on the test in as much detail as I can.  Having noticed a few mentions about not being able to find information on school websites, I am now worrying that I haven't done everything I should have done!

Do I do the Knowledge into Action parts?  Do I need to record anything for the Reflect sections etc?

When I spoke to stonebridge they said everything needed for the tests was in the book, not sure if this helps. I haven't even looked at reflective journal yet

I was told this too.  I have had my first assignment failed because I have only covered what was in the textbook.  I have been seeing the textbook as a lesson substitute as if I was in an actual college lecture I would be taking notes on what was being discussed, but this isn't enough apparently.

It would be nice if the tutor I was assigned ever communicated with me.  I asked a question to her via email to which someone else replied, and I have been emailed today to remind me about my assignment deadline by yet another tutor.  I thought we were supposed to have a personal tutor - this sounds like a team!

Good morning Sarah,

You are allocated a personal tutor who will mark all of your submitted assignments, however it may be the case that other questions surrounding general guidance or deadlines may be answered by the tutorial team – this is to ensure you are responded to as rapidly as possible.

You are welcome to communicate directly with your tutor via email on info@stonebridge.uk.com, or on 01288 356 300.

Best regards,
Stonebridge College

HI Sarah. I've done unit 1 and didn't do all the 'Knowledge into action' sections. Instead, whilst answering each question, if anything I've done, seen or know about in my own experience/placement and is applicable to the question, then I've just added it in as a paragraph.

I have just answered the questions on the online test, not done any of the portfolio questions. I think the portfolio work (like the reflective journal) comes in with unit 5.

I too had the issue with failing the first assignment with not enough information (about things that aren't in the textbook) but I wrote a couple of sentences answering what the tutor asked, re-submitted and it passed

I also had the issue of my submission date changing after I submitted early, which I didn't think was fair. I also trying to get a bit ahead as I go away at easter, looks like I'll be taking it on holiday with me.

They sent me an email saying my date had changed on the new date it was due, so that really wasn't fair, luckily it was nearly ready to send

You do not need to do the activities in the text book, just the questions you are asked.

You start using the reflective journals etc. from unit 5 onwards and these bits make up your portfolio along with your record of attendance etc.

Lastly, you dates change if you hand in early, but the date for the end of the last unit stays the same, then if you want extra time to complete a unit, you just have to contact them and they will allow you extra time. I have just started unit 6 and I am about 30 days ahead, I asked for a 1 week extension on unit 4 and they just change all the submission dates accordingly.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jenna. Where are the submission dates? I've not seen any.
I started the course in Aug and submitted unit 1` in Sept. I've tried to submit a unit every 3-4 weeks and sent Unit 4 in before Christmas.
Where should I look for submission dates?

The submission dates should be on the ILP you can find online where your exam links are and seems to automatically update if you submit an assignment early x

Hi I recently started on this course and half way through my first assignment. I've found it all overwhelming to be honest to the point I nearly decided I had chosen the wrong course. I had read that I needed a placement for 50 hours but didn't realise it needed to be set up for the start of the course. I am currently trying desperately to find a placement.
Has everybody else got their placements sorted and how are finding the portfolio tasks. They seem quite daunting to me.
Also in the textbook there are ́knowledge into action ́ ́reflect ́ and ́functional skills ́ tasks, are you meant to evidence these as well and if so do I send in with each assignment or with my portfolio?

Sorry for the essay, it's been ten years since I was at uni and its like starting all over again

Hi Fi, thanks or that mention about referencing as I've just done Unit 5 and been observed for an activity. The feedback I've received I've just labelled as Portfolio Entry 1. Am hoping this is adequate as I'm assuming we have to send this feedback in one day. Anyone know if this is at end of whole course?

I haven't referenced anything else that I've read (researched on internet )or written from experience about as there wasn't anything about a reference index!  Has anybody done a reference index?!
