Hi, started the course last week I've done my first placement day which I loved but looking at the work to do from the placement is really daunting and scary to be honest. and then there's the questions in the first assignment, iv done down to 2a and all I seem to have done is put the book in to my own words, I haven't added any additional information in from my own research as majority was coming back as what is in the book and other little details don't seem relevant for the questions. Have I done this right?  Feeling very overwhelmed, I've been home for 6 years with my babies and haven't been in any kind of education for 9 years.  Feel like I'm messing it all up before I start

Any help and advice is much appreciated

Hi Katie

Can I pick your brain. I've had Unit 5 sent back asking for more details about
Professional Development on 2a.
I've mentioned our school's performance reviews, how I undertake day to day reflective practice and tried to think of specific areas eg. behavioural management
How did you get on with 2a?
Thanks

Hi  - I have also started l3 recently - like you I have been at home with my babies for the past 7  years. It is     very daunting. At first it does just feel like you ae copying the book - I have just used the book and then done my on reasearch and put the answer into my on words - am sure it will get easier and I am sure you are not messing it up! you will probably feel better when you get your first assignment in and get feedback, I put mine in today ;-) If you want to keep in touch my emails:

Hi Rhiannon. You're doing fab. Placement sorted. Loved your time there and you've started on the written work! Great progress I think!

From memory, unit 1 was largely based on the text book.
Just make short notes of what you do in placement and you'll soon build up experience etc to write about in later units. If you can, think how you can improve what you did that day. It can be something really simple like walking slower at the pace of the child, adapting how you ask the question, know which specific teacher /TA to ask for help etc.  This will be useful for Unit 5 when you have to reflect on what you've done.

The feedback you get from the tutors is positive and mine have been quite specific in what you have to do in order to pass the unit.

good luck
