Well, I'm thinking of starting the Animal Care course & then the Animal Health course from the Stonebridge Online College. However I am feeling very concerned that when I've competed these courses with good grades/qualifications ... Will I be able to secure myself a job of some type (to do with animals) at the end?? OR are these qualifications not good enough ??? Reassurance is needed please!!

Hi Kirsty. I have studied Animal Care level 2 with a different college, but I studied my level 3 with Stonebridge. I found the level 3 Animal care course really interesting, and the information was broken down into small bits which made it easier to study. I did some volunteer work at an animal shelter while studying my level 3. when I apply for jobs as an Animal care assistant, Vet and Pet Shop assistant they said I needed a lot more experience working with animals. Where I live in the city there are not many jobs going for shelters, mostly vet assistant and vet nurses. You need a Vet nursing degree or to be a Vet student. I know there may be lots of jobs further out like in the Country side.

My advice would be to try and get different hands on experience in different animal jobs, such as a month in a pet shop working with rodents, birds, fish and reptiles. Another month or 2 in an animal shelter with cats, dogs, birds etc. I think the more animal related certificates you have and experience the more likely you are to get a job. I would also recommend further reading, as this will not only extend your knowledge but make your assignments more interesting and detailed.

Hope this helps.

Good luck with your Animal career in the Future. :)
