Hi! This discussion is actually for the NCFE Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course (QCF). There is a discussion on your particular CACHE course already going here: https://community.stonebridge.uk.com/stonebridgecolleges/topics/is_anyone_studying_cache_teaching_as...

Hi Terrie, although the facebook page is for NCFe, there are some of us who are doing the Cache course.  If you find  Johanna Wilks on Facebook, I'm sure she will add you.  It is all a bit daunting for a start, but you just need to read the chapter in the book and all the answers are there, it's just putting it into your own words to show your understanding.  Hope it helps, Kate x

Hi everyone,

I'm about halfway through unit 1 assignment and start my placement on Monday - excited and nervous. I already work in the school part-time but as an admin assistant so I know the staff and kids a bit at least. I've sent a request to join the Facebook group if someone can add me please? I'm just a bit confused about the portfolio tasks - do you get a list of those after sending off your form confirming placement? I don't want to 'waste' a moment on placement and would like to make sure I fit everything in. I was hoping to get the course done by end of summer term but the workload is a little more than I anticipated. I just need to be a bit more disciplined ;)

Thanks,

Cat

Hi there there has been a lot of confusion over portfolio tasks. Apparently you get these when you reach unit 5. They aren't the ones in the study book although you can do those if you like. Hope that helps. I'm sure you will be fine on Monday, it helps if you know the people and the building I think. Enjoy x

You also don't have to use the record/reflection sheets for each session just those with portfolio questions (5+) Or so i've been told. I'm still finding things confusing I hadn't got a clue about the portfolio question sheets because some people had them with their first assignment apparently we get them with unit 5 now. If in doubt ask others on here or Facebook or email stonebridge, they have always been quick at replying and answering my questions. :) x

Hi all!  I know this thread is from a while ago but I have just submitted my first assessment for the NCFE course, scary!!  Is there a facebook book group anyone has started for this?  Dying to know how I've done, feel a bit lost at the moment as I have absolutely no idea what they're looking for I my answers!  I did do quite a lot of research around each subject, more for my own background learning than anything else but hopefully will find out soon!

Lou :)

Doubt ful as you need to build experience and a portfolio if supporting children doing maths and english etc in class either in small groups or 1:1 sessions...its only 50 hours placement roughly 2 hours a week (however the more experience you get the easier the course work is to do) :)

I have just started studying supporting teaching & learning level 3..

I have just submitted my first assignment, but then I have looked at some of the comments on here and I have seen alot of people failed I am really worried now that I haven't included enough information. I have put alot of hours into it and the thought of doing it again fills me with dread. Is anyone else in the same position? Or any one had experience of failing?

Hi Sarah my tutor is also Fiona. I have just submitted assignment 2, fingers crossed I have passed. I have certainly put in a lot of hours. Kelly I am really hoping to get through my course work in 7 months how many hours do you think it took you?  Please could you tell me what do we do about the portfolio activities?

Portfolio activities start at unit 5 and are marked "practical" its useful to write a diary so you can go back and find examples, I wrote a student journal entry for every day I was in school so I had alot of evidence, think quality when answering questions I passed some assignments with 4 pages and another student did 10 we both passed just make sure ur answering the question, onlune study is quicker than post as all the assignment are there ready while one is being marked, if I found one assignment hard I started the next and went bk, so sometimes I was submitting 2 assignments at a time, its gets easier as you learn what they expect you to write, assignment 2 is the longest, you'll be fine, persevere :) join the facebook group its good for quick question s or uncertainty s, when u get to the question "compile a folder" dont, answer like any other question lol

Hi sarah if u had questions to re-do your total grade for the assignment will have been a fail, you get a "pass" or "not passed" for each question...only when you have passed all questions you get a "passed" grade for the assignment :)
Look on your grade sheet it tells you which questions you didnt pass and which you did, redo the questions you failed on and resubmit it will then get re-graded. The over all grade for the assignment is right at the end usually with a comment from ur tutor :)

HI. I've registered for NCFE Diploma 3 in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning - online.  How do I start online? Is it "upload a test?"
thought online would be easier than paper copy!!
thanks.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hi. I have just started the NCFE level 3 stlis. I have submited my first assignment and just started making notes for assignment 2. I am very confused about the forms for the work placement. Does anyone know if these need to be filled in when instructed on tests or if I need to fill one in everytime I am on my placement? I am very worried about finding time to do all the work, I am a mother of three, I work 27.5 hours a week as a teaching assistant and I am going to college to do my maths and english too! I was told by the college that I could take as much time to complete the course but once I had enrolled I had been given 10 months to complete the course. I tried to get ahead by submitting my first assignment a month early and when I did my ilp changed and each of my assignments now need to be submited over a month earlier than they originaly did! Has this happened to anyone else? I did my level 2 supporting teaching and learning with a different training provided and things were much clearer than this seems to be.

Hi. You're all ahead of me. Well done for having submitted unit 1. I started unit 1 Two weeks ago then sstopped because of hols etc. Have spent over 5 hrs reading and writing answers to just question no.1! Not sure if am writing too much or what?

I dont know if you are writing to much or if I am not writing enough. I didn't have a huge amount in question one. I just wrote a bit about early years entitlement and funding and a small amount outlining the early years outcome. I really hope that I dont have to do it all again! I am finding unit 2 difficult. It is a huge amount more indepth than the child development unit in level 2. Has anyone else completed a level 2 supporting teaching and learning before starting their level 3?

Hi everyone!  Enrolled end of September and got my ePearl login details (confused me a bit as I paid for the paper course).  I've been told on the FB page that the paper course is no more and it's all online so I started tonight as my book and work placement paperwork has arrived.  Been through Unit 1 and about to start the assignment....nervous!  Just going to make sure I read and read again before submitting anything.  Been a while since I studied anything so fingers crossed! Good to see I'm not the only one who's been confused by it so far lol.  Good luck everyone!
