Hi Stuart,

Just wondering how you are finding the pet sitting course, is it detailed enough? As I was thinking of enrolling.

Thanks,...Emma

Hi Emma,
The course is in my opinion very good so far I'm up to Assignment 7 so far and I'm learning a lot about the dog walking and pet sitting industry. Its been quite straight forward to understand the course material and the assignment questions so far...

Theres much more to running or setting up a dog walking and pet sitting business than you think at first glance depending on your personal experience and background. For me this is going to be a career change from my current work in  the security industry to running my own dog walking and pet sitting business. The course dose in my opinion a couple of things it will give you confidence to be able to understand this work and give you a recognised qualification in this work which is a good marketing stand for your new business as my experience is that few "professional dog walkers & pet sitters" in my area down in East Sussex have any formal training in the industry from my research into my fellow dog walkers & pet sitters businesses.

I would say the business setup  overview assignment is just that an overview in my opinion about the basics of being self employed and is just general stuff Tax, business insurance ,etc... I joined NarpsUK (National Association of Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers) which has been a great help to me setting my Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Business called My Pets Choices. NarpsUK well see their web site for more details and what you can gain from being a member. Iv still got six more assignments to go until I finish the Level 4 course. But I hope at my current rate to have the course completed by the end of June 2014. Thats when My Pets Choices goes live and advertising begins for clients.

The course it self won't give you all the business tools or paperwork or info you need but it will give you a very firm foundation to build your future career and business from in my opinion.

I hope this helps you in your choice of course you are looking at?

Kind Regards

Hi Stuart,

Thanks very much for getting back to me.

I have already joined NarpsUK and must admit am finding the forms useful, even though I need to edit some of the to suit my purpose.

I was recently made redundant, and got to thinking what I enjoyed doing and came up with animals and walking. So thought setting up my own dog walking and pet sitting business would be good.

I am not expecting to go officially live until the end of May as I have two weeks work experience in a vets booked and would like to do that before I go and do a leaflet drop. However, I have had a couple of jobs through word of mouth, i.e. Facebook which I wasn't expecting.

I will enrol on the course over the weekend and will get started with it. So thanks for the input it's really appreciated.

Our paths will probably cross at some point on the forum no doubt. In the meantime all the best with the remainder of the course and your new venture.

Best Regards,...Emma
