Hi Emma

I've just submitted my first assignment and I know it will be sent back with a fail, but I've just got to the point where I wanted to submit to get some pointers and feedback as I haven't felt the support from the college.
As far as I'm aware you can submit as many times you need too, which I think I'm going to be taking full advantage of :-)

Good luck
Sam

Hey Sam don't get too down hearted about it all, I've just submitted my fourth assignment and I know completely what you mean but normally the feedback you get is enough to help you get the pass and if not feel free to ask on here, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd try and help if I could :)

And in reply to a question about employability after this course, I've started to apply for jobs now and from my first application I've got an interview :) don't know if il get it or not but it can only be positive to know what sort of interview to expect

Thanks Sara, it's been a little more encouraging coming on here and reading everyone else's comments and questions, I don't feel so alone!!
I will be asking lots of questions I'm sure, once I get my feed back and eventually get onto assignment 2 :-)

Thank you again.

Hi Amy, yes it's the same one I did, I'm just waiting to get my results having submitted my final a week ago-I did lots of volunteering but I explained what I was doing to the head and asked her opinion and she said as long as I continued volunteering then the qualification would be perfectly acceptable. When I started applying for jobs I obviously hadn't quite finished the course but I was up front about this and put a date I planned to complete by-luckily enough the first job I applied for I got an interview which I did prepare quite hard for but I got the job - so don't worry and good luck x

Hi Sara,
Well done being on your fourth assignment I have just recieved the results on my secon submission of my first assignment with still a fail in question 1 and 2. Maybe you could help me they are saying that I need to show the difference between child, young people and adult. In all the information that we are given child and young people are grouped together so with my answer that is what I did. What did you do?

Hi.
I'm studying level 3 supporting teaching and learning and have just submitted my 1st assignment, just waiting for feedback as I am pretty sure i will have failed this one as it's my first piece of study since leaving school all those years ago!!
I have had a lot of support from the school that I have my placement with, which has helped a lot, and I'm glad I've joined on here as I'm not feeling so alone now!
Good luck!

Hi Hannah
I will be doing 3 days a week (approx 20 hours) starting Tuesday. The Head has given me a mix of classes so the ages will range from nursery to year 3.
How many hours a week are you looking to spend studying?? I would like to study at least 10 hours a week but it all depends on the family needs (I have a 5 year old and a prtner), plus I havent done anything like this before and I imagine because it's home study I may need a little pushing to not let things slip. I havent studied or written an essay in probably the last 17 years (got that makes me feel old - Ive just turned 42).
Good luck for Monday, let me know how it goes :)

Just purchased the CACHE level 3 course (500/9963/2). Nervous about whether I've done the right thing or not. But reassured to see other people's comments. Doing the course without a placement, but I know that I can get plenty of volunteering experience to build up my practical experience. Having spoken to other TAs this is absolutely key to getting a job in school. I'll let you know how my first assignment goes!

hey! thanks for all the advice and comments.well im glad to say just this minute got my email and have passed my 1st assignment second time around.wooo!! and I totally understand what you mean now about what is expected on each question and answer. my advice to anyone just starting would be if you answer a question with your own answer or something from the book then think about an example and after the sentence put 'for example' then explain a real life experience or what you know from others. I know it was a pretty long time ago but I thought back to when I was a teenager and how I would of felt in situations to help me answer the 'young people' questions. good luck everyone

Hey,
Just for a bit for reassurance don't worry once you get into the swing of things it gets easier. Its hard to know what they expect from you to start off with once you get a few assignments out of the way you will soon get the hang of it and will fly through them.
Best of Luck

A good friend of mine got a full time TA job after doing this award course, and actually, I was offered a p/t TA job just last week, with this qualification (but declined it as it was too far to travel from home, and I am also starting ITT this Sept so couldn't commit).

There are two things to remember here :-

1). Technically you do not need any qualifications, certificated or awards to be a TA, but having something like this course (or the full year's Cert) demonstrates you've had some training and are committed.

2). At least as equal to qualifications and certificates is the real experience you have had in schools. You will never get a TA job with any qualification (even a degree), if you don't have experience of the role is a school.

So getting into a school 2 days per week on a voluntary basis is the best thing to do, and doing this course will make your future applications more desirable,

Cheers.

hows everyone getting on? currently still on assignment 2.seems to be taking forever as it is more in depth than assignment 1.Im on question 7 so far. I have found that using studymode.co.uk is very useful and also silkysteps.com I think (if not try co.uk or vice versa) I have been working in a nursery since January volunteering and I really enjoy it so I have asked about courses and they may be able to fund a £2000 course for me or I may have to pay half.they are just trying to sort it out.its the cache level 3 childcare. I know most of you wont be interested in this but what im saying is if you ask where you volunteer they may be able to get you a future course cheaper or even free with funding.worth a try ( :

Hi I recieved my course work a month a go and I'm only on question 3 assignment 1. although to be fair I haven't worked on it every day. Not sure if I have written enough or whether it actually makes any sense. Do you know whether you can submit a couple of questions or do you have to submit a whole assignment?

Sandra I think you have to sumbit a whole assignment. I failed on 4 questions on assignment one, resubmitted and have passed. just waiting on assignment 2 exam questions now. How is everyone else getting on?

Hi Holly thank you for your reply, I'm just unsure if I have answered the questions
correctly, I think it would be a good idea for the first assignment just to get a couple of questiond checked so you know that your on the right track. I'm hoping to complete unit 1 this week. Having spoken to other people I think I may be writing too much, on average how many words per question do you write?

The questions i failed on was beacuse i hadn't segregated and explained the differences enough between children young people and adults, if you do that you should pass. Don't worry about writing too much i have gone over the recommended word count on all my questions by at least 60-100. I still havent received the second exam paper, I rang today and they said it was sent out last week so just waiting for it to arrive.

Hi Jo, I enrolled at the end of May ( course with placement) and to begin with I panicked thought I had made a big mistake. I calmed myself down sat down and read through all the information first. I started the first assignment in June and worried that I wasn't answering the questions correctly and if I was writing too much. I did what I thought was right and have had feed back to say I have passed the first assignment. I have purchased additional books and there are lots of very useful web sites. You need to show that you understand each question, give personal accounts if you can. To be honest until you send off your first assignment you will not know for sure if you are on the right track. Good luck.

Hi Jo I am on assignment to all i can say is take it one step at a time, don't get bogged down just fit it in when you can but don't let it sit untouched. Sandras advise is right on answering questions however I am on a non placement course so can't always give experienced examples but showing you understand the question and possibly explaining what you would do in a situation can help.
