I thought that too when I signed up, but to be honest isn't quite what I was expecting. The first two assignments ( only ones that I have done so far) are about history of design.

Hi Amanda, yes it did, but it's a really interesting course. The history of design is really important, so try and embrace it. I studied a lot of detail on line to try and get a more indepth knowledge. Good luck :)

Hi Tracey, Good advice..:-) I did that with the first assignment and even though it took me quite a few weeks, ok months, to do the assignment I did feel I understood it better, so just trying to do the same with the second one. My trouble is I am rubbish at retaining information and I like so many different styles..:-) and even though I thought our house was very Victorian inside and out, after doing more research I have discovered that that is far from what it is..:-D I feel a re-style coming on..:-) hehehe. How your final paper going? :)

750 words into the first question, 750 to go!!!! Then there is the second question haha!! I find it a challenge to write about my learning experiences without being negative to myself so its a definite work in progress lol!

Ohhh a re-style, sounds like fun :) I live in an army married quarter so can't do nothing like that yet, only 3 more years and I will be in my own place and the fun can start woo hoo. :)

Oh bless you, I hear ya with the writing part, I'm not the best at explaining what I have learnt, I'm more of a hands on person..:-)

I just have to convince the other half to trust me to change few things :-) now that is the work in progress in our house..:-) lol...how exciting for you, 3 years will pass quick enough and means you have plenty of time to prepare..:-)

Hi Amanda,

Thank you :D

It took a while for me to get the enthusiasm too, I did the first three and then never touched it for about 5 months!!!! You can do it.

Hi, I am doing interior design diploma course, and I am stuck on the first question, on assignment three. Discuss, using examples, how colour can affect a room’s:
a. Dimensions
b. Style
c. Feel
d. Practicality
e. Apparent temperature

If someone can help me out with the question then that will be great. Thanks

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
interior design.

Hi D-top Bee,

Think about colour in general, red = warm, blue = cold, white = large, black = small. White is a bad colour if you have kids. You wouldnt want Green walls if your furniture and accessories where Blue.

Hope that helps, tried to give you clues without answering too much for you, let me know how you go ;)
