Hi Charlene, I have spoken to my course tutor and she has told me that the first four units are all written work. This is to give people a chance to find a placement and carry out the necessary CRB checks etc. I've just started unit 1 myself! Are you doing the online version or the hard copy? I chose the hard copy so will not get sent Unit 2 until I have successfully passed this one.

How long does it normally take to get marks back on assignments? I sent my unit 2 first class recorded last tuesday and still have heard nothing. It will take forever to complete this course if it takes two weeks to mark a unit.

How is everyone getting on? I'm just waiting to get my mark back on unit 4. I must admit I am nervous as to how to complete the units with reflective and witness accounts that are on the horizon. Especially seeing as I have to answer the same questions for each account. Anyone got any helpful tips? xx

Hi everyone. I've just got my pass mark for assignment 4 back and the questions for number 5 and I am now totally lost. According to the 'Assessment scope' LO1 is highlighted pink for assignment, and LO 2, 3, 4 are green for Observation, reflective, needs mentor signature. However, the question paper states different! It says  2b and c and 3 a, b, e, are written assignments and the rest should be entered on the record sheet. However the record sheet I have been sent is three pages long and covers every unit in a different paragraph that relates to the rest of the course and is called 'session record and reflective journal.' The part on this unit only allows for a couple of lines, so how am I suppose to answer all of the questions on this record sheet? Also none of the other questions relate to this unit, so do I need to complete them too? Sorry to sound so thick, but it just doesn't make any sense as all the forms I have been sent have been renamed and don't provide any information on how to use them. Anyone else experienced this?

Hi Jacqui,

i'm struggeling with the same at the moment.

The only difference is, that i got a response from my tutror, saying:

"A practical session needs to be recorded on the session record and reflective journal sheet (found in VI forms - document h%26sc+_v1_-forms-complete.pdf - pages 2.3 and 4) this is a master copy and you will need to make copies of it as a new form needs to be sent in for each practical session you are asked to undertake, this form needs to be signed by your placement supervisor and needs to clearly indicate which question it refers to."

Still i'm not clear abut how shall i fill them out.
Have you moved anywere ?
Any ideas ?

Thanks for anything !

Best luck ;)

Hi Jan,

I completed unit 5 by doing 14 pages of typed assignments, a leaflet and four session records, handwritten with each question completed (12 pages!) which took me forever! I passed the unit so I must have done something right, I suppose. The next unit is asking for a minimum of six session records, but could easily be upto 10 of the things with the number of 'demonstrate' questions!

I must admit that it is putting me off quite a lot, as my friend recently did level 3 HSC diploma and her session records were used holistically to answer several sections in several units, and she did far less work to pass. Our tutors don't seem to look at the course or even each unit as a whole, but instead mark each subsection of a question separately so we have to provide a lot more evidence.

How are you getting on?

Hi Jacqui,

thank you very much for you quick reply.

I'd like to ask you for more things though.

So you answered all the questions (in total 11) on the "Session record sheet and reflective journal", for each individual practical session, even though each one of these questions corresponds with each of the yet to come - not yet covered - lessons??

And what was your usual answer like ? Just a few words ? A sentence ? Couple of sentences? Tho whole paragraph ?

Did you have it signed by your placement supervisor ?

And did you post the sheets to your tutor ? Or scanned and e-mailed them ?

Truth is that i start to find the way i'm supposed to answer the questions quite annoying. The more time i spent thinking about what the hell am i supposed to do now, so that it's proper.
But yeah, better to finish it asap and move on ;)

Now i'll most probably ask you for too much, but would you mind e-mailing me the leaflet and one of your recorded practical sessions ? That would help me quite a lot with getting an idea as for what should it look like. I have already made the leaflet (but am not sure about the form) and all the assignments from this lesson and am trying to finish the first practical session.

Anyway thank you really for anything, the responses from my tutor take time and are not so in detail as i need to. (I wonder why they didn't make a student manual HOW TO, so that we could save the time )

I was told I had to answer every question on the session record, even though I have not yet studied those lessons, so that is what I did, even though it took forever.I put the answer to the specific part of the question , for example 3a) on the back of the first sheet as it had too much info to write in a tiny box in order to answer.

I did have to have each one signed by my manager, and he also kindly wrote the feedback comments for me (cos I told him he had to, haha!) I'm off to work shortly, but if you can give me your email address I can send emails of an example for you.

Also you can add me on FB if you have an account. My name is Jack Crook on there. It says I live in Ohio, but that is just a joke!

All right then, i'll try to answer them all, even though i'll need to go through all the lessons first.
And i'd really prefer to have a look on how you did it and even what kind of answers did you give them, regarding "communication in health and social care". Such as what possibly could you write down in the section "health and safety", with regards to communication :)
And the tiny space for the answers - that's another story..

Cheers

Hi all. I'm still struggling through Unit 6 of HSC level 3. I am particularly stuck on 5c "c) Show how to record progress in relation to personal development – submit at least three examples on your session record sheet." The text we were given shows that this outcome requires you to plan a personal development plan , but the Stonebridge version of the question asks for at least three session records recording progress in relation to personal development. How can that be done? I don't have a review with my line manager about my development every session I work, nor do I attend courses or training every week. Help please!
