My advise would be to narrow down all the establishments you would like to work in. Then contact each one and ask. That's exactly what i did and I got a placement within a few days. Many said no but I kept going through my list and eventually one accepted me after a successful interview. Good luck all

I was lucky in that I managed to secure my placement before my course place was confirmed. All I did was send an email to the admin office stating that I was looking for 50+ hours placement and they passed it on to the relevant person. Wasn't as scary to sort out as I thought!  They sent me an email with a link to my local authority to order the DBS check. You don't need the placement until assignment 5 onwards so plenty of time to sort it xx

I enquired with Stonebridge on their helpdesk before I signed up as I was holding back my application to study until I had my placement secured. I was told it was only from assignment 5 onwards, which seems to be reflected in the guidance notes I was sent too. Can anyone from Stonebridge please clarify?

Hi Sarah, the portfolio activities will start from lesson 5
onwards, but we recommend that students should try to have access to their placement setting
for the duration of the course.

Hi there, I just sent an email out to a few schools giving a brief description of what i am studying and a bit about me and i had replies within about 10 days. Have had a meeting and its looking good. Some schools are reluctant to take students as its more work for them. Keep trying and you will get somewhere. Good luck x

Kristy, there is no guidance at all unfortunately! All you can do is search alone...

Yes, i'm not looking forward to applying to schools either... Ive got a degree and masters and some child experience and have been applying to be a TA and have not even got a interveiw... I'm hoping this course will change that.... Also I'm not applying for a job its volunteering but, its not easy to volunteer these days either... Have written out my letter and plan to send today along with my CV to schools near by. I don't want to apply to my daughters school unless I have to as I feel that thats her space and she has just started a new school in sept. Will let you know how it goes

Do you think I should include CV or just an email inquiring about whether they can be of help, describing the course , that i will be a volunteer and the time period? I should have a DBS in a couple of days as I volunteer with SEN adults and have references from work ect

I suggest just asking at first. If they need anything else they will ask. I just made a few phone calls and told them about the course I am studying and what I require. Within days they arranged a interview and now I am working there. :-)
