U have a curved edge that u have to sew to a straight edge. The trick is to stitch a line of stay stitching along the edge of the straight piece of pattern at the 1.5 cm seam allowance mark right where u intend to join and then snip at regular intervals to the stitching. But not through, where stay stitching. Is. This allows you to stretch the straight edge to fit the curved edge.

U will need about 0.60 cm of wide fabric (150cm) to ensure u get all the piece s on and to give u room to move the pattern pieced around. U need to use all the pieces for this assignment as u are effectively making up a bodice and this shows your ability to do this.

Hi Jade, if like me your completely new to sewing you may find the workbooks don't always explain properly especially on the assignment im on, or it could simply be where im not reading it properly. But good luck and if i can help i will xx

I have basic sewing knowledge using a machine etc. So hopefully that will help. Just surprised because when the college rang me and i asked if it was practical based or just theory they told me it was all theory so i was expecty all essays. Thank you ☺ x

There is quite a lot of practical work to do including princess seams inserting sleeves waistbands button holes necklines inserting zips and making a complete tee shirt and hemlines

I've just recieved my first assignment today and after looking through blueprint 1 the instructions aren't very clear, like the scrapbook and fashion sketches it doesn't say a minimum or maximum to do

The scrap book doesn't have to be submitted. This is for your own personal record of fashions at the moment and styles that you like. Design sketches do a selection of garments .

I sent all my assignments to the college by post as I found scanning diud not show the detail. Stick the fabric samples of construction technics to the paper assignment sheets provided . I used a pritt stick. Just be careful because it can get a bit messy and you don't want to ruin all your hard work! I photocopied the sheets and then stuck my samples to the photocopies. I did this because some of the sheets are double sided and this makes sticking more difficult. If the sheets are individually photocopied it makes it much easier.

Hi. If your on assignment 6 it's facings collars cuffs and pockets. This one is quite hard. If you get any problems let me knoiw and I will try to help. Have a go at each type of collar cuff etc that they talk about in the exercise book. This will give you some idea and practise at each sort before you attempt the assignment. If you can and time allows have several attempts as the more you practise the easier you will find it.
