Hi to anyone that can help me. I'm a complete newbie in every sense of the word and would appreciate any beginners advice you have to offer. I've just started studying the early years level 3 course and in all honesty already feeling a bit overwhelmed by the first assignment! I'm having a lot of difficulty understanding the whole placement issue and have been told it's essential at the start of my course to get one established (which I haven't yet). How do I go about getting a placement, what year groups should I be working with for the first module and what should I be doing during my placement and how long for? If anyone can please help me with understanding this a little better, I would really appreciate it & feel less like a hopeless case!! Thank you!

Okay that's great, thanks Alex :) what does having a placement entail exactly? Do you know if I would be personally getting involved with the children this early on in the module or acting as more of a bystander and just sitting in on classes... or does it just depend on individual settings? x

With my setting I get involved with the children , set up activities and things like that. There be driffrent units u have to complete on a placement and a placement agreement sheet x

Hi Tia,just saw your post.I am doing Early Years Educator 3 as well and stuck on the first assignment.Got the placement, you can look on the internet and find settings that will accept you to do the placement in their setting. They usually let you do what you think you need to,they won't ask you to change nappies...just see how is everything working and observe the children.
My question is:How do I do the portfolios?? In introduction they say you need to send them at the end of course, and on question paper they ask you to send it with the assignment. So I am stuck at question 6 on assigment 1.Do you know how it works? Thanks,Mariana
