I`m on assignment 5 so we are not too far apart! Loving the course, its informative, and raising questions for additional research for me too :) I also study in spare time, although havent had much of that since taking on the course (December) so need a more organised approach really! I`m hoping to use it to start my own practice - how about you?

Many Thanks for your reply - it is great we are not too far apart with our assignments, currently working my way through assignment number 4, hope to have it all complete in the next week or so and get it sent off for marking - enjoying the course.Yes hard for me also, I have a fulltime job during the day, and with a family - as they say never enough hours .and have recently started another course at work too I have always had a great interest in Diet and Nutrition, lol my ambition is to help people with their Diet, weight loss etc. I have been plodding along for a few years but I am going to reach the end of the course this time, and all going well acheive. I always give myself a set time limit for studying and getting my assignments complete, and sending back in for marking.

I totally agree that its hard to find time with so many outside commitments and a study plan is vital - but still `stuff of life` can get in the way! I tend to get up early and do my studying before the day begins - but stil get scuppered some days!

You have a great ambition - mine somewhat similar; there is a lot of misery and illness caused because of diet choices; obesity/weight loss is a case in point isnt it? I`m also fascinated with the causes/management of stress (via CAM rather than orthodox methods)

You MUST keep going and finish the course :) We can spur each other on?

Assignment 4 took me ages for some reason - I kept on looking away from the course and doing additional research because of the questions it threw up in my mind! I`m hoping that assignment 5 will be done and submitted this week - thats the plan anyway

Hi, I am now studying the Diet & Nutrition Advisor course and currently on assignment 11. I have also completed the Clinical Nutrition course and have already enrolled on the Nutrition for Children & Adolescents course. Do you intend on pursuing Nutrition as a career?

I have finished the Clinical Nutrition Course and the Clinical Herbalism course. I am now working on the Nutrition for Children and Adolescents course. This last one is a doozy. Tons of information but the course is thrown together in a haphazard way in my humble opinion. The lessons appear to be primarily articles taken from medical journals, Clinical nutrition journals and other sites. I actually found 2 of the original articles. Some of them very sophisticated. Unless one has had anatomy and physiology and some understanding of biochemistry, the result is to be tearing ones hair out trying to make sense of all the medical jargon.

Thankfully, I did take an Anatomy and Physiology course some years back, and the clinical nutrition course, plus another course from the United States (I am in the States, not from the UK, but love Stonebridge.) Still this course is very slow going because to make sense of things when these medical articles are just thrown at you as lessons, makes for very slow and tedious studying.

The Clinical Nutrition course, on the other hand, was written very well.

I am just starting out and have chosen to do the Child nutrition course and I am finding it very mind boggling. I would like to do the diet and nutrition advisor as well. I am on assignment 1 of the child nutrition and would like to find out from others that have does it how they are managing.

I am also doing the Nutrition for Children and Adolescents course. It seems to me that whomsoever authored this course took the lazy way out and just slapped a bunch of medical and clinical nutrition articles together for most of the lessons. The information is valuable but badly written. I am managing because I have taken other nutrition courses and anatomy and physiology as well. But it it very difficult to get through the Assignments. They are all over the place. I have to do a lot of independant research to make sense of the lessons.

It will be great for you to be able to add nutrition to your current work; and also be able to offer advice on nutrition to clients away from it too?

Hi Jo,
Busy family weekend here too so I havent made much progress either! Hopefully today .... We were talking about ipads yesterday funnily enough - no I dont have one but they sound like a great tool :) I`m a bit of a dinosaur with tech stuff really, and still rely on pen and paper a lot! Maybe I might get dragged into the modern world one day ...

I agree, this is an interesting course, I`m really enjoying it :) It is tense waiting for results but I`m glad I signed up to the online version because they come through really quickly online - my last submission was back within a few hours; amazingly fast which is fabulous :)

Did you manage to complete and send off? Hope so!

I`m thinking about doing one of the stress courses, not sure which one as yet ...

Yes, I agree, it is a wonderful feeling when you complete a course; and would you agree also that it can turn into a sort of addiction?

Hi Jeni - I am working on assignment 5, so not got far up as 8, hope you are able to resolve the question - sorry I am unable to help you with this one. Other wise why not try and contact your tutor for some guidance in the right direction. Keep Calm and Carry on (as the saying goes !!) Best of Luck.

P.S Annieliz - where did you go to have a look at the assignments we have ahead !!

Hi Jo,
I`m studying/submitting online and that gives the facility to look at all of the assignments - not a thing I have been doing before Jeni asked this Q though because its enough to get on with the assignment I`m working on!!

Hi Jeni,
I`ve not got this far in the course as yet but have just had a peek at the text and the Q and can see your difficulty! Its not clear and obvious to me how to address this question either. Maybe someone who has gone past assignment 8 could post some pointers? (not answer the Q but just give a hint). The best plan would probably be to email/phone your tutor for clarification? Try not to get flustered, it wont help :)

Good luck, and if you do get tutor clarification maybe you could post a tip or so on here to help others coming along behind?!

Hi Adrienn,

I am also studying this course - just submitted assignment 10. I would thoroughly recommend it, its very informative, well laid out and although I`ve studied the subject before from different angles (ie studying healthcare, biology, catering) it is fascinating and gives a different `angle` on many topics

Good luck with your studies!

hi again Adrienn,

I havent found the assignment particularly difficult personally, but I do find I need to think quite carefully when compiling the answers to questions sometimes, to make sure that I answer them fully!
I hope to incorporate diet and nutrition advice into my work in the future, yes :) Do you plan to work as a nutrition advisor too?
