Hi Lucy,

Great to hear there will be somebody else doing the course too :)

I have only just started the course this week and having a few teething problems with epearl the virtual learning environment they are using for it. Did you use epearl for your level 2 course? If so did you get on ok with it? Good luck with your results for level 2 btw.

Also, how long do you think it would take you to complete this course? I thought we had a year but I have only been given a month per unit so am being expected to complete it in 5 months.....I think that might be putting the pressure on a bit!

Best wishes

Kirsty

Awe thanks much
I didn't use pearl for level 2, I think it's a new system for Stonebridge, I just used my own portal on the Stonebridge website, so easy too, although I did have an issue uploading a video file in the initial assessment, I haven't come across anything else as yet 
I also have 5 months to do it which is pushing it a bit, I was hoping for longer but I guess the faster its completed the better, it's just a lot really to commit to, I think I foresee a few late nights ahead haha
I'm a bit unsure about the system, trial and error I suppose....

Give me a shout if you want to discuss anything though, I'm always open for a chat ☺️

Talk soon

Hi I'm also on the Counselling course and am finding it a bit hard going!!  Although I enrolled in December I have only just received the info to log in to the epearl site so I only had 16 days to get the first assignment in!!  I think it's a bit much to expect you to do it in 16 days really.

Well I think I may consider cancelling my registration as it will be pretty impossible for me to complete the course in that short length of time and I'm also finding that the epearl system doesn't work for me in the way I think it should. Feeling rather disappointed and deflated at the moment :/ Hope you both have better luck with it than me x

I just had a look on my ilp and in fact it says I have 12 months to complete but the expected time is 5 months, is yours the same?
Don't give up, it can be done I'm sure, I will be here if you need anything 
Emma, I would contact admin and tell them your situation, 16 days is far too much pressure, Im sure they can give you an extension, it's standard 28 days per assignment so it says x
Chin up girls, come on we can do this!!

I've sent a email to my tutor to clarify... I also  had the same thing I applied in December but only got course fully approved and access sent to me a few days ago. I have also mentioned this to my tutor and asked for a extension on assignment one and two.  I received a reply saying that is fine and when could I complete the assignment by... I've given myself another week.  Will keep  you posted on the response regarding... the duration of the course.

hang in there I think its just teething problems

Hi all, has anyone started question 7 of assessment unit 1... you have to produce a role play... as audio  evidence to demonstrate your counselling skills? just wondered how you were getting on?

I sent an e-mail to my tutor asking for an extension to the first assignment as it seemed unfair to expect me to complete it in 16 days and I was told that the dates couldn't be changed!!  Danielle you said that your tutor has given you an extension but who is your tutor?

A extension can't be given until you had reached the deadline date... They can't be changed beforehand... I am going to see if I can complete the assignments in 9 days first and then see if I need more time.

Hello :-)

I am due to start the NCFE Counselling Level 3 Diploma course on 22nd March.

Really looking forward to starting the course, although I too have noticed it states 12 months to complete the course on Stonebridge course website but on PEARL states 5 months? Oh well, as long as we all get our Diplomas I don't mind :-)

I am using this qualification to go on to study at Leeds Beckett Uni next year so REALLY need to do well on this course :-)

What is everyone else plans after the course ?

Oh, before I go. Has anyone either completed or thinking about the practical elements to the course already and how this will work ?

Hope everyone is well and hope to chat soon.

Rob.

I must say I am a bit nervous about the recordings, it seems a very personal act to impose on someone when you aren't qualified, I know it will be beneficial, but like what do you record? scary stufffffff hehe

ok so really really dumb question here guys, but Im in 2 minds, first off has anyone started their assignment 1? if so have you gone for the paragraph writing or just bulletin the points and then using 50 words to describe? do you think it matters?
Im not sure how to present it.......

I was contemplating the same, think I'll take the bullet point approach for clarity but in paragraph format if that makes sense?

Hello again 

I am sure we will all complete the course with distinctions. Were all on the course together, and will help each other to succeed.....  ...am sure of it.

Here is a little quote I use when I'm unsure as to how confidant I really feel..... Its written in the from pages of my books so I use this quiet a lot.

"When your back is to the wall, and all there is, is fear.... Head on... Success is just ahead of you"

This tells me that no matter what emotions, feelings or fears I have, I know that once I work and push my way past what ever is stopping me, I will be a better person than I was before.

Anyway.... Lol on a lighter note.... Can anyone recommend any books which would coincide with the course to deepen learning and understanding on the subjects we are about to learn ?

If I can be of any help to anyone on the course, drop me a message... The same may be asked in return too..lol 

Good luck guys and stay calm..... Lol

Rob.

Hi Lucy.

No such things as a daft or dumb question 

Personally, I would write in paragraph's.
This will show your tutor you fully understand the question being asked and also that your answer to the question is logical, clear and in depth.

Hope this helps 

I admire all your courage and determination but I felt I would probably end up needing counselling myself if I tried to complete the course in 5 months so I've asked for a cancellation and hope they will let me convert to one of their other counselling courses. So if this gets underway soon I may still be able to converse with you on here about relevant subject matter. I've already bought a couple of counselling books and would recommend 'Counselling Skills and Theory' by Margaret Hough as a general good all-round introduction. Good luck everyone....I will still look forward to hearing how things are going :)

Bless you Kirsty, the level 2 is a good starting point ( I passed with a distinction so chuffed) so I would definitely recommend that if you haven't taken it already x
Although the content is in way more depth, I feel more confident doing level 3 because of the level 2
Good luck to you huni let us know how u get on x
